Inauguration of Dhaka-Bhanga Rail Link via Padma Bridge Tomorrow to Enhance Bangladesh's Railway Connectivity
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Unveil 82-Kilometre Rail Section at Mawa Station
Dhaka, October 10, 2023 - The eagerly anticipated Dhaka-Bhanga rail connection via the Padma Bridge is poised to open its doors tomorrow, marking a significant milestone in Bangladesh's railway infrastructure.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to officiate the inauguration ceremony for the 82-kilometre Dhaka-Bhanga rail segment, which will take place at Mawa station at 11:00 am tomorrow. During the event, it is anticipated that the Prime Minister will embark on a train journey from Mawa to Bhanga, accompanied by esteemed dignitaries, as confirmed by railway authorities.
To enhance the nation's transportation network, the Bangladesh Railway has been diligently working on the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project. This project aims to construct a 169-kilometre railway line connecting Dhaka to Jashore via the Padma Bridge, with an estimated cost of Tk 39,246.8 crore. The completion of the entire rail line, extending up to Jashore, is projected for June 2024.
This development holds immense promise for advancing rail connectivity in Bangladesh, facilitating smoother transportation and fostering economic growth.
