Messi's move to Miami causes financial disturbance for the fans. Click for details.

Messi's Miami significantly raises season ticket prices, leaving fans dissatisfied.

Supporters of Lionel Messi's Inter Miami are expressing frustration as the Major League Soccer team has decided to double the cost of season tickets for the upcoming season. Despite the price hike, the opportunity to witness the World Cup champion in action remains a strong incentive for many fans to open their wallets.

The franchise, co-owned by Miami's prominent entrepreneur Jorge Mas and former English football star David Beckham, reached out to their loyal fan base via email on Thursday, unveiling the specifics of ticket renewal prices.

The changes that Messi’s inclusion brought-

  • 1. Messi's influence has led to a significant rise in season ticket prices.
  • 2. The cheapest season ticket has gone from $485 to $884, translating to $52 per match.
  • 3. Seats with better views and club amenities have also experienced substantial price increases.
  • 4. High-end seats have seen similar price hikes.

The cheapest season ticket for Manchester City, the European and Premier League champions, is $469, while the priciest option costs $1,256. Note that hospitality deals are separate from season tickets.

At Messi's former club, Barcelona, season passes start at $380.53 and go up to $919.62.

Season ticket holders for Inter Miami this season were shielded from the sharp rise in single-match ticket prices, which occurred after Messi's arrival in July.

In summary, Inter Miami's substantial season ticket price increase, especially following Lionel Messi's arrival, has upset fans and led to some selling tickets at a markup. While the club offers seat downgrades, long-time supporters are frustrated. The club attributes the increase to on-field improvements and investments. They plan to move to a $350 million stadium in 2025. Some fans are reconsidering their commitment due to the higher prices, but loyal supporters like Ed Serrano are torn between love for the team and disappointment.
